"What’s easy to do is easy not to do” - Jim Rohn
I think Jim Rohn said it best. What’s easy in life to do is also easy not to do. That simple saying is so profound when you use it to look into your life. When you take the time to audit your life, your thoughts and your actions, you’re usually able to see areas of improvement. Majority of the time what you don’t want to do, or what you’re afraid to do is what you need to do. It’s in that moment of fear and doubt when you need to instead take action on it. Fear and doubt, like Grant Cardone says is a fire and the more time you give it the bigger it grows. But when you suffocate the time and just act the fire will not grow.
We all know that we need to act and make decisions. I can look at my life and can see there are times I need to do something but I may put it off, or say “I can do it later/tomorrow”. But as we all know the do it later mentality is just a put off mentality because we don’t want to act on it now. We also know that usually we will not actually do it.
So the questions becomes why do we as human beings, the most intelligent beings on the planet that have control over everything and can manifest thoughts into reality, why are we so weak. Why do we not act. It’s not because we’re not driven individuals, we all want to be successful, if you ask anyone you know they’ll tell you they want to be successful in whatever venture they're in. Its not even exactly motivation we all get motivated easily but yet we don’t always act. And even for some people its not that they don't act, they just don't act consistently.
I’m going to hit on this hard because motivation isn’t some surface level concept like money or even maybe family. It’s your why behind your why behind your why, as I heard from a friend of mine Nicole. She put it well. The problem is that when people ask you what you want to do, who you want to be in life we ALL think of jobs. I remember in college people asking “What do you want to do ?” I would say I don't know. I have no clue. How is someone who is 19-20-21 years old supposed to know what they want to do the rest of your life ? It’s because you aren't supposed to. Kind of. There’s a caveat, you do know, but it’s not exactly black and white. It’s a little grey and it is easy to be overlooked. It’s not the generic lawyer, doctor, financial advisor, teacher statement. It’s the deep down how do you want to live your life, who do you want to help, how do you want to help them.
Life isn't about the job that you do. It’s about the impact you create and leave with the world. The people you inspire, the people you motivate and the people you are able to affect while you’re here. You are put on this Earth not to merely survive. You are put on this Earth to make a far greater impact than yourself. You’re here to impact not just hundreds, not just thousands, maybe not even millions, probably billions of people. But you don't know it, you may not believe it. You are put on this Earth to make an impact on others. It’s whether you decide to take the burden. What I’ll tell you is that it is a huge burden it’s not easy but once you accept it you’ll find a way. Don’t worry how you’ll do it, just that you will.
We live in a very “passion” centric society. This is the other side of the coin. We’re told to live our passion, but sometimes we may not know what we’re passionate about or you just may not realize it. i think we all know what we’re passionate about we’re just not always awake or realizing what it is. Or you may not want to accept it. Open your eyes, your ears and your brain. You already know why your here you just need to focus on it. For those that are unsure, I ask you the first question, What would you do if you had all the money in the world ? How would you want to spend your years ? That may be a little broad, so what get yours body, brain and heart going ? What can you lose time in ? Where is it that you find yourself looking into, learning, reading about ? I heard this idea, I forget where so I can’t credit it, but if I gave you money to go buy 3 magazine from a bookstore what would those 3 magazines be ? Where would you spend your money and time ?
That can also confuse people so I think this is the simplest form to put it in. I heard this from Elizabeth Gilbert, what are you curious about ? Where is your curiosity ? That is very intriguing in itself because it kind of encompasses the thoughts above it but puts it in a different perspective.
So I strongly believe you need to find out your deep inner goal. A good way to do this is whats your long term goal put into a philosophy or phrasing. That will be your life motto. Mine is Fit Mind, Fit Body, Fit Life. Build your dreams and leave a legacy.

Willpower is something we know about but we don’t exactly know fully about. We know its a muscle, we know our body is limited daily. We know there are daily cues to helping and hurting your willpower. The question becomes how do you manage and control it.
I think willpower comes down to the simple concept of who you want to be and who you want to identified as. Because if you want to be identified as a teacher, you’ll act and do things in accordance to that. If you want to be successful you’ll act in accordance to what it means to be successful. You need to ask yourself how do you want people to view you ? How do you want people to talk about you ? If someone wrote a biography on your life what is it going to say ? Because you create that everyday through what you do, say and feel.
The next is what can we do as human beings to build our willpower muscle and make our days and life how we want to create it. We all have limited time in a day, we only do what we value. What you make time for in your day is what you value. Plain and simple.
When someone says they want to live healthy but then they eat unhealthy or buy oreos, or other junk foods they are saying they don't value their health. When you don’t make time for exercise you don’t value your health. Just like when you make time for your family, friends, learning, work, or other activities you are subconsciously saying that is what I value.
Willpower is something you can trick. When you want to live healthier, it’s as easy as don’t buy unhealthy food. How can you eat unhealthy if you don't have any in your house. When you want to exercise, the simple act of putting on workout clothes can put you in the state of “I’m ready lets go”. Little simple tricks can go a long way.
That’s why if you want to start saving, you don’t just say you’ll save. No, you put a portion of you paycheck into an account you’ll never see and can’t spend frivolously. That’s how you put money away to start an emergency fund, save to invest etc. You cut out the middle man. If you want to go the gym, pick out your clothes the night before, or have them ready in your car so you can go after work. If you come home you have to pass your couch, bed, TV, computer, games, etc. That drains your willpower because you have to say no, no, no, no, no to it all.
The next biggest thought is what you avoid doing, is usually what you need to do. Don’t borrow credit from tomorrow because if you keep borrowing credit you will end up broke and in debt just like the US economy. You don’t want that because tomorrow never helps today. You can’t sail the boat with tomorrow’s winds.
You can create rules. That you need to workout before you can watch TV or use your computer. That if you don’t eat healthy you need to eat unhealthy the rest of the week. Some of these are SO SIMPLE yet when you think about it they are so profound.
Don’t mistake what you want to do for what will create real happiness. Eating that chocolate cake may be something you want to do, because yes it causes chemical and mental stimulation thinking about it. However 30 minutes after you’re in the same place you were before you ate the cake, it didn’t change anything. Simple short term wants never create long term happiness. Staying in line with your goals, noticing your progress, and rewarding yourself with positive things that will keep you progressing will keep you motivated and happy.
You don’t reward yourself for eating healthy for 2 days with a chocolate cake because guess what ? That doesn't align with your goals. You reward yourself with something you truly enjoy. I enjoy books, so if I’m healthy for a week or work hard in my business for a week or month I can reward myself with a book or maybe even a trip. Things like that align with your goals, keep you positive and motivated.
Creating a healthy lifestyle isn’t as simple as eat healthy, and exercise. We know that. The real struggle is the consistency and the battle we fight from within. It’s the state you live in daily, the stories you tell yourself, and the identity you want to create. Shaping and sculpting your mind will help shape and sculpt your body or the life you desire.
